We know denim is cotton, right? A friend recently admitted that she didn’t actually know this, so I would hate to assume. Well, at least, ‘real’ denim is 100% cotton. The odd high street pair of jeans will have a disappointing amount of elastane mixed in but mostly it is just cotton. Like every fabric, it comes in a variety of weights but I think we presume that denim will always be thick and heavy. Mostly I find summer denim dresses are the perfect weight - light enough you’re not suffocating but with enough rigidness that a rogue tube wind isn’t going to have you exposing yourself. Plus, like a good pair of jeans, you don’t need to wash them after every wear. I find them forgiving with little grubby hands, messy meals and well, truthfully, sweat patches.

I was gifted the below Elk one, and until recently I’ve layered it with a shirt, tights and boots. That’s the other thing about a denim dress, it can and should be worn year round.
Gorgeous. Thanks for this! Love that the examples you included are suitable for a range of body shapes and sizes!
